Watering New Lawns
For Seed or Sod Installations
Immediately After Installation

Seed: Keep the top ½” of soil consistently moist (not puddled).

Sod: Water within one hour of installation to soak soil 3–4″ deep.
Watering Schedule

Best Time
Water early morning between 5–9 a.m.
Avoid watering midday (high evaporation) or overnight (risk of fungus).

- Deep, infrequent watering builds drought resistance
- Adjust frequency during heat waves or windy weather
- Use a sprinkler timer or smart irrigation controller for consistency
